I'm new to this forum, and just glad to be here. As long as I AM here, I thought I might ask for some help (I'm a total Newb). I found a rock in Alaska when I was there last and found some rocks. One of which I brought home. It is very heavy and kinda strange looking. I think it may be Calaverite. I broke it open and didn't see any gold color, so I threw most of away (maybe a big mistake). But now I have finally found some pictures on the web which look a lot like it and believe it to be Calaverite. It is a very shiny, black, "crystally" rock that is shot through with quartz. It's almost twice as heavy as led shot of the same volume, so it's pretty heavy.
I saved a chunk of it, and have tried to download pictures of it, anyone feel like helping me identify it?
Beyond that, I am glad to be here, and look forward to getting some knowledge from you folks.
