Hi from Phx AZ I belong to a local club called the Road Runners Prospecting Club. They have around 200 active claims in AZ. Was a member of GPAA until this month. Most of their claims are played out here. I do own a dredge ( 2 1/2 inch keene ) Yes there is water here!!! Recirculating sluice, Two metal detectors and gold. Next on the list will be a drywasher and a vac. I try to go out twice a month but with the fuel costs now it is down to once a  month. I am a 100% disabled Vet of VN era. Good luck to all and may the gold in you pans be heavy

Hey thanks for stopping by. I also have found out that the GPAA claims are falling apart, I just came back from 3 days of dredging, (about an hour from my house next to Molk Hill) Saved some gas money on that! I just built a vac out of a old leaf blower I picked up at a yard sale and It works fantastic and only cost me 4 bucks!!!! If you want some pictures of it and how its assembled (easy) let me know. When my dredge pays for itself I will be getting a drywasher also, want to try the desert area. anyway thanks again for stopping in.

Sorry for the slow responce to your reply. The best time here in Arizona to dry wash is in the fall if it dosen't rain. It is too hot right now. A good area to go is LSD by Wickenburg ( Lower San Domingo Wash ) you can find every thing from nuggets to pickers to flour gold and a few rattlers. A good side arm is always a good thing to carry, loaded with snake shot just in case.

        Good Luck to you

Nightrider pics of the vac would be nice that is next on my list. I have thought about Dewalt or Riobi  they both have battery vacs. But I don't know how long the batterys will last in the field. I won't have to mix gas then.

I thought of using batteries but decided it would be to heavy. Since I had that weed wacker I thought I would put it to good use. The sucking power is great and adjustable. It really works great when I work out shale rock. Saves me hours of work doing clean up! Also the price of gloves. I will post some pictures on how to build it soon. The total cost was under 10 bucks(bought a hose) One tank will last me approx 40 mins of run time or 6 buckets full of dirt.
I will have to get more info on desert prospecting from you for my experience is limited. If I start a page on desert prospecting  would you like to input your info and experience? If so let me know and I will give you admin rights.
